Submissions

This section should include sufficient background information to set the work in context. The aims of the manuscript should be clearly stated. The introduction should not contain neither findings nor conclusions.

This should be concise but provide sufficient detail to allow the work to be repeated by other researchers. The source of material should be given in detail, where possible.

Results should be presented in a logical sequence in the text, tables and figures; repetitive presentation of the same data in different forms should be avoided. The Results should not contain material appropriate to the Discussion.

This should consider the results in relation to any hypotheses advanced in the Introduction and place the study in the context of other work. Only in exceptional cases should the Results and Discussion sections be combined.

The source of financial grants and other funding should be acknowledged, including a frank declaration of the authors' industrial links and affiliations. The contribution of colleagues or institutions should also be acknowledged.

We strongly recommend that reference manager is used. For the open-source reference manager Zotero, there is a predefined citation style for MJEE:

In the text, give the author's name followed by the year, using parentheses: Levkov (2009) or (Levkov 2009) depending on the context. If there are two authors, use '&': Levkov & Williams (2006); same if cited within parentheses: (Levkov & Williams 2006). When reference is made to a work by three or more authors, the first name followed by "et al." should be used: Round et al. (1990). If several references by the same author(s) and from the same year are cited, a, b, c etc. should be put after the year of publication (Levkov et al. 2006a, 2006b). Within parentheses, groups of references should be listed in chronological order. When more then one reference source is cited in the text, sort them by the date of publication (Round et al. 1990; Levkov & Williams 2006).

In the list of References:

The list of references should be sorted in alphabetical order. Cite the names of all authors when there are seven or fewer, when there are more than seven cite the first three and add "et al". Complete names of journals (not abbreviations) are required. References should be listed in the following form:

The figures and tables should be intercalated between sections of written text. Tables should be complete with caption, and numbered in Arabic numerals. All tables, figures, line drawings or half-tones, should be numbered consecutively with bold Arabic numerals (i.e. not numbered separately within a numbered plate), and planned to fit a maximum size of 15 x 24 cm, including the written caption. Refer to figures and tables (in text and captions) as Figure 1, Tables 2 and 3 or Figures 2-4. Tables should have their titles and explanations above the first row, starting with Table 1. Figures should have their names and explanation under the image, starting with Figure 1. Figures and Tables should be cited in consecutive order in the text. Do not embed figures in the word document - they must be supplied in separate files.

The figures and graphs should also be attached as separate files, in TIFF or JPG file format, with resolution of 300 dpi, with minimum width of 80 mm, or as an original Microsoft Excel/LibreOffice Calc file. As of volume 25 (2023), submissions not adhering to this rule will be automatically rejected. Individual photographs forming plate should be of equal contrast to facilitate printing. Magnifications should be indicated using a scale bar on the illustration. In case Google Maps, Google Earth and Street View are used, they should be properly attributed (https://about.google/brand-resource-center/products-and-services/geo-guidelines/#required-attribution).

Scientific names of species and associations:

The complete scientific names (genus, species and authority), and cultivar or strain where appropriate, should be given for every organism when first mentioned. The generic name may be abbreviated to an initial in subsequent references except where intervening references to other genera would cause confusion. Common names of organisms, if used, should be accompanied by the correct scientific name on first mention. Plant associations (and subassociations) should be cited with their full name accompanied by the name of their authors and year of description.

Numbers:

Numbers up to and including ten should be spelled out in full. Numbers after and including 11 should be written using numerals. If a sentence begins with a number, that number should be spelled out, even if it is above 11. For large numbers, use combination of numbers and spelling (e.g., 100 milions). For fractions in text, use hypenation (e.g, two-thirds). In tables, only numerals shpuld be used.

Use . (period) as a decimal separator and , (comma) as thousands separator. Avoid use of empty spaces. Therefore: 1,240.50 (one thousand two hundreds and fourty point fifty). Use 3-digit grouping (123,456,789.00).
